The 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting of the Lagos State House of Assembly in Kosofe Constituency I was thrown into drama on Thursday following a walkout by four members of the Kosofe Legislative Arm, popularly known as the “G4.”

The councillors, led by Council Leader and Ward C representative, Hon. Femi Oyesile, alongside Hon. Hakeem Oshijirin (Ward E) and Hon. Ibrahim Adebare (Ward G), reportedly stormed out of the meeting in protest over what they described as improper recognition. They were introduced merely as councillors, without reference to their leadership positions within the legislative arm.

The fourth member of the bloc, Hon. Christianah Kuboye (Ward B, Oworonshoki), was conspicuously absent. Party sources alleged her absence was deliberate, possibly to avoid public reprimand from party leaders over allegations of disloyalty.

The cracks within the Kosofe political structure are not new. Oyesile’s emergence as Council Leader had been fiercely contested by the party establishment, a lingering tension that has pitched the G4 against councillors loyal to the leadership, often called the “G3.” The G3 were fully represented at Thursday’s stakeholders’ forum.

The rift widened after the G4 accused Hon. Sulyman Baruwa of fraud in the disputed Council Leader election. Baruwa responded with a defamation notice, threatening legal action. But the G4, through their legal counsel, dismissed the demand and declined to apologise.

Analysts say the division now mirrors a broader power tussle within Kosofe, with the G4 enjoying the backing of the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, while the G3 remain firmly in the camp of the party establishment.

The unfolding crisis has heightened interest among residents, who are watching closely to see whether reconciliation or further escalation will define Kosofe’s political trajectory in the coming weeks.
