The Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Agboyi-Ketu Branch, Comrade Funmilayo Joseph, has received commendation for his active participation at the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The meeting, which held on Thursday, September 4, was hosted by Hon. Femi Wasiu Saheed, the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency II.
Comrade Funmilayo, known for his contributions on KosofePost’s digital platforms, demonstrated his commitment by physically attending the forum where he tabled wide-ranging recommendations on youth empowerment and community development.
Among his proposals were regular engagements between the NYCN and the lawmaker’s office, interventions on graduate unemployment, and expanded job opportunities for youths through state agencies including LASTMA, LASAA, SUBEB, LASEPA, LASPARK, LAMATA, LAWMA, the Ministry of Works, and the Neighbourhood Corps. He also called for fairer budgetary allocation to Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, youth inclusion in the Lagos State Youth Parliament, rotational representation, and the facilitation of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) at ward levels.

Responding, Hon. Saheed pledged his readiness to maintain periodic engagements with stakeholders, assuring that his office remains open for dialogue. Addressing concerns of infrastructural imbalance between Ikosi-Isheri and Agboyi-Ketu LCDAs, the lawmaker explained that while projects may appear uneven, their cost implications showed otherwise. He cited the reconstruction of Demurin Road, Church Street, and the Odogun Secondary School project as examples.
Saheed further promised to take up other recommendations made at the meeting for legislative consideration and necessary follow-up.
The forum brought together community leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, and residents, with participants commending the Lagos Assembly for institutionalizing the stakeholders’ meeting as a platform for inclusive governance.
