Plaintiffs’ counsel, Mr. Kolawole Salami, has dismissed reports claiming that his clients, Oloye Oluwaseun Salami and Ibrahim Mustapha, have withdrawn defamation suits filed against Hon. Ganiu Oyebanjo and Ashraf Oyebanjo.
Speaking with a KosofePost correspondent on Tuesday, Salami described the circulating reports as “false and misleading,” insisting that all four cases remain active before competent courts in Lagos.
“The four suits are still pending,” he clarified. “One is between Oloye Oluwaseun Salami and Ganiu Oyebanjo, another between Oloye Oluwaseun Salami and Ashraf Oyebanjo (aka Kasandra). The third is Ibrahim Mustapha versus Ganiu Oyebanjo, and the fourth is Ibrahim Mustapha versus Ashraf Oyebanjo. All of them are before the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja.”

According to him, the matters are being heard before different judges — Justice Oshoala, Justice Ogala, and Justice Oshodi — with hearing dates already fixed in some cases. He disclosed that the case between Ibrahim Mustapha and Ashraf Oyebanjo, before Justice Oshoala, last came up on July 2 and was adjourned to October 7, 2025. Similarly, the case between Oloye Oluwaseun Salami and Ganiu Oyebanjo, before Justice Ogala, came up on June 23 and was also adjourned to October 7.
Salami added that the remaining two suits before Justice Oshodi are still awaiting dates. “The defendants have all been served and are fully aware that the matters are ongoing,” he stressed.
He recalled that the suits arose from defamatory publications allegedly circulated on platforms including Kosofe Voice and KosofePost, in which the defendants accused his clients of receiving vehicles from the Kosofe Local Government Chairman.
“For Ibrahim Mustapha, they alleged that the chairman bought him and his wife a car. For Oloye Oluwaseun Salami, they alleged he was gifted a Highlander. Both allegations are completely false and intended to damage their reputation,” Salami said.
The lawyer noted that the suits seek ₦100 million in damages as well as an injunction restraining further defamatory statements.
“Our clients are not political appointees, they have never been involved in public fund appropriation. These baseless allegations were calculated to tarnish their image and portray them as corrupt before the people of Kosofe,” he added.
