Shortly after returning from her London vacation, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, who represents Kosofe Federal Constituency, visited the Oworonshoki demolition site, sharing photos and videos of the ruins on social media. Her appearance echoed a similar pattern from 2023, when she made a publicized visit during another round of demolitions but offered no tangible remedies to displaced residents.

Earlier, State lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency I, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon as well as the recently booed Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon Moyosore Ogunlewe and Hon. Kafilat Ogbara —all members of the ruling party paid courtesy call to the site—further fueling public skepticism about the sincerity of their interventions. For many residents, the optics of officials showcasing people’s distress online while the Lagos State Government carries out demolitions underscores a troubling insensitivity.

Rather than staging political displays, community stakeholders argue that elected representatives should press government authorities to provide immediate relief for victims and develop adequate resettlement plans before embarking on further demolitions.
