The Araromi Community Central Mosque, Gbagada, has been thrown into mourning following the passing of its Chief Imam, Alhaji Suayauhu D. Sanusi.
The news of his death was confirmed by his son, Alhaji Skido Sanusi, in a late-night Facebook post on Monday, where he wrote: “The icon is no longer visible. I lost my father.” The announcement drew an immediate outpouring of condolences from friends, relatives, and members of the wider community, many of whom took to social media to share heartfelt tributes to the late cleric.
Alhaji Sanusi’s death marks the end of a remarkable era of service and leadership. A framed plaque shared in the tribute post revealed that he had served as Chief Imam of the Araromi Central Mosque for 24 years. He was also a recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award presented by Bil Muhmeenina Al Islamiyat in recognition of his contributions to the growth of the mosque and his steadfast guidance of its congregation.
The Araromi community now reflects on the legacy of a spiritual leader who dedicated decades to the service of Islam and humanity. Funeral arrangements and burial details are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
