Arewa community leaders across Lagos and the wider Southwest have reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Stakeholders from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States gathered on Tuesday at Mile 12, Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos, for twin strategic meetings convened by Alhaji Shehu Usman Sampam, the Southwest Coordinator of the Arewa Community.

Central to their agenda was the ongoing sensitisation campaign urging Arewa residents to take part in the continuous voter registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 elections. Leaders stressed that this was critical to securing bloc votes for President Tinubu.
In his remarks, Alhaji Shehu Sampam praised the administration’s policies, describing them as long-term strategies designed to deliver lasting prosperity rather than short-lived populist gains. He also dismissed media reports suggesting that northerners in the Alaba Rago market had aligned with the Labour Party (LP), branding such claims as false and divisive.
“We are already engaging opinion leaders in Alaba Rago to address this false narrative. It is the handiwork of mischief-makers bent on misleading the public,” Sampam said.
Among those present were Hon. Sani Muhammad, Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; Hon. Isa Umar, Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor; alongside grassroots politicians and Arewa opinion leaders from Agege and Alimosho, Lagos State’s largest local council.
At the close of deliberations, the stakeholders unanimously pledged loyalty to President Tinubu and vowed to deliver bloc votes across the Southwest.
“We shall deliver for Asiwaju in 2027, in shaa Allah,” Sampam declared.
