KosofePost has appealed to political actors in Kosofe Local Government to set aside their differences and redirect their focus toward delivering meaningful development for residents.
The call comes amid rising tensions between supporters of the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, and loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) establishment. The friction, according to findings by KosofePost, stems from disagreements over the chairman’s political alignment and the composition of his cabinet.
The crisis reportedly escalated when Chairman Ogunlewe aligned himself with the G4 bloc of Kosofe Legislative Councillors, a move viewed as a challenge to the APC establishment’s preferred structure. In response, party power brokers, through the APC Ward Executives, allegedly excluded Ogunlewe’s loyalists from the list of cabinet nominees, citing a breach of trust.
The development has snowballed into a heated exchange of words between both camps, creating distractions from governance and raising concerns among residents.
Amid this standoff, KosofePost publisher, Abayomi Bilesanmi, called on all stakeholders to put an end to what he described as “political entertainment and needless distractions.” He urged them to emulate neighbouring Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) such as Agboyi-Ketu and Ikosi-Isheri, which have attracted high-profile dignitaries—including the President, Governors, Senators, and the Speaker of the State Assembly—to commission landmark projects.
“Kosofe should focus on delivering legacy projects that improve lives and attract recognition, rather than being consumed by internal power struggles,” Bilesanmi said.
