Residents of Igbe Oreyo in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State have decried the deplorable condition of their major access road, following the breakdown of a Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) truck along the Laara Bus Stop stretch on Tuesday.

The fully loaded waste truck got stuck in the muddy and waterlogged section of the road, causing hours of gridlock and raising fresh concerns about the environmental and health risks in the community.

An eyewitness, who shared photos and videos of the incident with KosofePost, said the development further underscored the urgent need for government intervention.

“This is not just about inconvenience, it’s about health, safety, and the wellbeing of the community. We need this road fixed,” the resident said.

The road project, which was initiated under the administration of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, has reportedly been abandoned, leaving the community to grapple with worsening conditions during the rainy season.

Residents are now calling on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to prioritize the completion of the road, stressing that the current situation poses both safety and economic challenges for those who rely on the route daily.
