A resident of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area under the Kosofe Local Government, Comrade Alarape Aliu Abiodun, has expressed concern over the deteriorating state of drinkable water supply in Lagos State.

In a public statement issued on Saturday morning, Comrade Alarape questioned which government agency or office currently holds responsibility for ensuring access to safe and potable water for residents.

“Please, Sir, who is in charge of the provision of drinkable water to Lagosians? Do we have an office one can communicate with? Do we have staff in that office if there is one? Are the staff still collecting a salary, or has their salary been put on hold since the provision of drinkable water appears to be on hold?” he queried.

His remarks reflect rising frustration among residents over the shortage of clean and accessible water in several communities across Lagos, particularly in areas where residents depend on boreholes and private water vendors for daily use.

Observers say Alarape’s concerns underscore the need for transparency, accountability, and improved public investment in the management of essential utilities such as water supply — a critical determinant of public health and quality of life.

Efforts to reach the Lagos State Water Corporation (LSWC) for comments on the current state of potable water distribution across the state were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
