Victims of the recent demolition exercise in Oworonshoki, Lagos, have expressed deep gratitude to the Mayor Dele Oshinowo Foundation (MDOF) for its humanitarian intervention, which brought relief materials, educational supplies, and cash assistance to affected families.

The outreach, held on October 18, was organised in partnership with the Community and Child Protection Network (CPN) to ease the hardship of displaced residents and ensure children’s continued access to basic learning materials.

Leading the distribution, Omoba Rasheed Awofeso, President of CPN and General Secretary of the Lagos State Child Protection Network, said the intervention was a swift response by Mayor Dele Oshinowo, who was moved by the plight of the victims.

“Mayor Dele Oshinowo’s Foundation acted quickly to support those affected, providing food items, educational materials, and some financial aid. This initiative reflects our shared commitment to child welfare and community support,” Awofeso said.

The beneficiaries, visibly relieved, offered heartfelt appreciation and prayers for the Foundation’s continued success.

One of the recipients, Akanni Akinsanya, expressed surprise and gratitude at the gesture.

“I am excited about what Mayor Dele Oshinowo did for us today. Nobody expected it. He gave us exercise books, textbooks, rice, beans, and groundnut oil, among other items,” he said.

Another beneficiary, Abdulrasheed Temitope, echoed similar sentiments, saying:

“We thank MDOF for their support for Oworonshoki demolition victims and we pray for the Foundation’s sustainability.”

Other community members also praised the initiative and urged more well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the Foundation’s example to ease the suffering of vulnerable households.

In an exclusive chat with KosofePost, Awofeso explained that his organisation, Children and Community Protection Network, partnered with MDOF after an initial data-gathering visit to identify victims and their needs.

“We want to say a very big thank you to the Mayor Dele Oshinowo Foundation for all they did for people who are in pain. With this support, many families can at least find some relief. We pray that God continues to bless him abundantly,” he added.

FOR THE RECORD: KosofePost earlier reported that the Mayor Dele Oshinowo Foundation donated ₦3 million to fund the relief exercise for affected residents of Oworonshoki.
