The political atmosphere in Kosofe Local Government Area has been thrown into fresh turmoil following the sudden collapse of the alliance between the Executive Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, and his longtime political associate, Seun Salami.

The dissolution of the partnership, confirmed on October 27, 2025, has sparked widespread reactions across the local political space, with observers describing it as a major setback for the duo and a potential advantage for their rivals, notably the faction identified as GOCO.

Political analysts say the breakdown of the alliance marks a new phase in Kosofe’s internal political rivalry, which has been characterised by shifting loyalties, public confrontations, and unresolved grievances.

Reacting to the development, Engr. Olusola Emmanuel Adedayo, Publisher and CEO of MoschinoBlog, said the fallout would likely strengthen the GOCO bloc.

“The GOCO group will make a mockery of them,” Adedayo said. “When Moyo eventually reconciles with the establishment — the Kosofe GAC leaders — Seun Salami will be left out, looking isolated. He ought to have known better; they will use him as an attack dog and later settle their differences behind his back, making him a laughing stock in Kosofe.”

Adding a moral perspective, Taiwo Lasisi, President of the Ta’awun Humanitarian Forum, described the political rupture as “a manifestation of karma,” noting that alliances built on opportunism rarely endure.

“Everything is transitional — power, life, alliance, and conflict,” Lasisi said. “Once a camp forms an alliance for or against you, do not panic. Stand firm. What brings them together will eventually tear them apart.”

He added that the latest developments should serve as a lesson to political actors across Kosofe, urging them to place integrity above temporary alignments and interests.

The collapse of the Ogunlewe–Salami alliance marks a critical turning point in Kosofe’s political scene, with rival camps expected to re-strategise ahead of future elections.

Political observers say the unfolding drama underscores the fluid nature of local politics in Lagos, where personal interests, loyalty shifts, and intra-party rivalries continue to shape the balance of power.
