There was no meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe Local Government Area on Saturday following an internal disagreement over who should sponsor the gathering.

According to Engr. Olusola Emmanuel Adedayo, Publisher and CEO of MoschinoBlog, the latest directive from the APC state executive reportedly assigns the responsibility of funding LGA meetings to the local government executive chairmen.

Adedayo, however, described the arrangement as “preposterous,” arguing that it grants undue influence to council chairmen over party activities.

“If the chairman is not pleased with the GAC members, as being witnessed in Kosofe LGA, that technically means there won’t be APC Kosofe LGA meetings until the chairman is in accord with the leaders,” he said.

The blogger and civic commentator warned that the development could undermine party unity in Kosofe, giving a single individual the power to “hold the entire LGA to ransom.”

Adedayo also criticised the APC LGA executives for what he described as their reluctance to take financial responsibility for party meetings.

“Normally, it’s the APC LGA Excos that ought to be sponsoring and hosting LGA meetings — if they are not sharing all the monetary largesse every time,” he said, calling the situation “an attitudinal and behavioural inconsistency” among party leaders.

He concluded that the stalemate was “a big shame” for the ruling party, warning that persistent internal disunity could weaken the APC’s grassroots structure and electoral strength in Kosofe ahead of future polls.
