The All Progressives Congress (APC) general meeting in Kosofe Local Government Area, Lagos, ended in chaos on Friday following a violent clash that disrupted proceedings midway through the session.
The meeting, held at Anthony Village Senior High School, was attended by the Kosofe APC Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Bello, and the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, among other party leaders and members.
According to reports, the gathering had proceeded smoothly until members were invited to make their contributions. Tensions reportedly escalated after a party member, Kemac Emina, took the floor to address the audience.
In a video clip obtained by KosofePost, Emina defended his recent social media posts on party WhatsApp platforms, stating that his comments were not intended to insult party leaders but to call for accountability and good governance. He also accused some loyalists of the council chairman of threatening him and withholding benefits he was entitled to from the local council.
“I have lost my wife, daughter, and mother. I have seen a lot, and I fear no death,” he declared, stressing that public funds belonging to Kosofe residents should be used equitably for development and welfare.
However, Emina’s remarks reportedly angered supporters of the council chairman, leading to a physical confrontation that threw the meeting into disarray. Eyewitnesses said chairs were thrown as shouting matches degenerated into violence.
At least two persons, including Emina and another member, Rasheed Adedeji, were said to have sustained injuries and were taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
As of press time, neither the Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, nor the APC LGA leadership had issued an official statement regarding the incident.
The violent disruption has drawn condemnation from some party members, who described the development as “unfortunate and embarrassing,” calling for internal disciplinary measures to restore order within the Kosofe APC chapter.
