Supporters of the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, have criticised the lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, over what they described as the distribution of “mere clippers, wheelbarrows and small freezers” to individuals allegedly loyal to the council chairman.

The criticism followed a mega empowerment programme held on Sunday in the Magodo area of Kosofe, where various empowerment items were distributed to beneficiaries. Items reportedly presented at the event included branded mini Suzuki buses (korope), cars, tricycles (maruwa), motorcycles, as well as smaller tools and equipment.

According to Ogunlewe’s supporters, dissatisfaction with the exercise was expressed through voice notes allegedly leaked to KosofePost. In one of the recordings, a speaker questioned both the quality and relevance of items given to certain beneficiaries believed to be aligned with the council chairman.

“Hello, House of Reps, good morning ma. Well done for the new job you are doing today,” the speaker said.
“But it should be our council chairman’s loyalists that you give items like clippers, wheelbarrows and small freezers. House of Reps, agbé iṣẹ́ yín sórí, Chairman gbé iṣẹ́ yín sórí. It shouldn’t be irrelevant items you present to them in Kosofe.”

The speaker also referenced beneficiaries from Ikosi-Isheri, adding, “Please don’t be offended by what I said.”

Beyond the leaked voice notes, similar concerns were reportedly discussed quietly among some constituents at the venue. Critics described the empowerment programme as lopsided, arguing that it fell short of the expectations traditionally associated with a “mega empowerment” initiative in the constituency.

Some attendees also drew comparisons with empowerment programmes organised by Hon. Ogbara’s immediate predecessor, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, which they claimed better reflected the scale, balance, and impact historically linked with such interventions in Kosofe.

As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara had not publicly responded to the criticisms or allegations raised by supporters of the council chairman.
