The Olu of Agboyi, His Royal Majesty Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, Akinmasa I, has been officially elevated to the status of a first-class traditional ruler in Lagos State, marking a historic milestone for the Agboyi Kingdom.
A reliable palace source disclosed the development to KosofePost on Saturday.
Until this elevation, only two monarchs held first-class status in Kosofe Local Government Area — the Onikosi of Ikosi, HRM Oba Alamu Oloyede, and the Oloworo of Oworonshoki, HRM Oba Babatunde Saliu, Elebo I. With the inclusion of Oba Oladega, the number of first-class traditional rulers in the council has now risen to three, significantly strengthening Kosofe’s traditional leadership structure.
The elevation is widely regarded as a recognition of Oba Oladega’s leadership, commitment to peace, and contributions to community development within the Agboyi Kingdom and its environs.
Following the announcement, Awori sons and daughters, residents of the Agboyi Kingdom, and stakeholders across Kosofe have poured in congratulatory messages, describing the monarch’s elevation as well-deserved and long overdue.
Many have hailed the development as a major boost to the cultural heritage, prestige, and political relevance of Agboyi, expressing optimism that the new status will further enhance traditional governance, unity, and grassroots development in the area.
