A prominent aspirant for the 2025 chairmanship seat of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, former Councillor representing Ward B, Bashiru Omogbolahan, has been appointed as a member of the cabinet of Agboyi Ketu Local Council Development Area.
Omogbolahan’s name appeared on the 17-member cabinet list released by the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on March 2. The list, obtained on March 6, features several political stakeholders and former office holders drawn from across the local government area.
Omogbolahan was one of the leading contenders in the race for the 2025 Agboyi-Ketu LCDA chairmanship position. However, his ambition ended a few days before the party’s primary election following the adoption of the incumbent chairman, Adetola Abubakar, as the preferred candidate of the party.
Other Political Stakeholders on the Cabinet List
Other notable political figures from Agboyi-Ketu LCDA who also made the cabinet list include former Supervisory Councillor for Youth, Innocent Afam Osakwe, Abdulkareem Aramide, and several other prominent stakeholders within the local political structure.
In a related development, former Leader of the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Legislative Chamber, Tajudeen Adeyemi, has been appointed Secretary to the Local Government (SLG).
Political Realignments Ahead of the Primaries
The cabinet announcement also highlighted political actors who earlier stepped down from the chairmanship race to support their preferred candidates. Among them are Kayode Oguntade, coordinator of the Late Hon. Tunde Braimoh Foundation, and Oluwafemi Opabola, another aspirant in the 2025 contest.
Former two-term councillor Adetoyin Adegbesan, as well as one-term councillor Oluwaseyi Adebayo, were also recognised among key stakeholders within the political structure.
Expectations for the New Cabinet
Political observers say the newly announced cabinet is expected to strengthen governance and support the administration in delivering grassroots development across Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
The appointments are part of the wider restructuring of local government executive teams across Lagos State, aimed at enhancing administrative coordination and service delivery at the grassroots level.
