Lagos Govt Warns Council Chairmen Against Altering Approved EXCO Lists
By Bilesanmi Abayomi
The Lagos State Government, led by Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has warned chairmen of the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state against altering the approved list of Executive Committee (EXCO) members for their respective councils.
The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kikelomo Bolarinwa, dated March 4, 2026.
According to the circular obtained by KosofePost on March 11, the state government expressed concern over reports that some council chairmen had either altered or were attempting to alter the Executive Committee lists already approved by the governor.
Approved List Must Be Maintained
The circular emphasised that the EXCO list endorsed by Governor Sanwo-Olu remains the only authentic version and must be strictly adhered to by all council chairmen across the state.
It further described any alteration of the approved list as unacceptable, stressing that such actions constitute a breach of trust and protocol, as well as an affront to the Office of the Governor.
Call for Strict Compliance
The ministry therefore reiterated that all chairmen across the 20 Local Governments and 37 LCDAs must ensure full compliance with the approved list in order to maintain the integrity of their offices and the administrative process of the state government.
