Celebrations and tributes flowed as families, friends, and associates organised a surprise birthday party in honour of philanthropist and businessman, Kunle Soname, ahead of his 60th birthday.
The event, held at the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja, saw guests gather ahead of the celebrant’s arrival at about 6:45 p.m. on Friday, creating a moment of surprise and admiration when he entered the venue.
Leading the tributes, Tokunbo Abiru, Senator representing Lagos East, said the gathering was not only to celebrate Soname’s personal milestones but also his enduring contributions to governance, business, and sports in Nigeria.
He highlighted Soname’s legacy in public service, particularly his tenure as Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, which he said laid a strong foundation for grassroots development and community empowerment.

Similarly, House of Representatives aspirant for Kosofe Federal Constituency, Dele Oshinowo, described Soname as a role model, noting that his journey from politics to industry demonstrates the potential for leaders to drive economic growth and create employment opportunities.
“He has shown that leadership can extend beyond governance into building industries that empower people,” Oshinowo said, adding that younger leaders have much to learn from his example.
Family members also paid glowing tributes, with his elder sister, Adenike Marayesa, describing him as humble, patriotic, and deeply committed to humanity.
