Renowned entrepreneur and Chairman of Bet9ja, Kunle Soname, has urged young Nigerians to embrace hard work, discipline, and perseverance, stressing that success is neither accidental nor easily attained.
Soname gave the advice during a surprise 60th birthday celebration organised by family and friends at the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja.
Reflecting on his journey, the businessman recounted his early struggles, noting that his achievements were built on years of consistent effort and resilience rather than chance.
“People see success and assume it happens by accident, but they do not see the work behind it,” he said.
He recalled driving a commercial bus in his early years to make ends meet, before venturing into small-scale trading, including transporting goods such as tomatoes and bananas across Nigerian cities.
According to him, these formative experiences laid the foundation for his later success in business and investments, including his involvement in football through Remo Stars F.C..
“I am appealing to the younger generation—success does not come by chance. You must prepare, work hard, and remain consistent,” he added.
Beyond his professional journey, Soname expressed gratitude for the role of family in shaping his life. He acknowledged the influence of his parents, particularly his mother, whom he credited for guidance and mentorship.
He also paid tribute to his wife, describing her as a pillar of support whose steadfastness and prayers have contributed significantly to his journey.
The celebrant further expressed appreciation for the outpouring of love at the event, noting that the surprise gathering was both emotional and humbling, especially as it reunited him with individuals he had not seen in decades.
He thanked attendees for taking time out of their schedules to celebrate with him and prayed for continued blessings in their lives.
Soname also announced that a special praise and thanksgiving session would be held in Ikenne, Ogun State, as part of activities marking his 60th birthday.
The highlight of the evening was the ceremonial cutting of the birthday cake, anchored by former Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora.
The event underscored Soname’s journey from modest beginnings to becoming a leading figure in business and sports, with his message reinforcing the importance of resilience and preparation in achieving long-term success.
