Hundreds of Kosofe APC Members Stage Solidarity Walk, Hail Tinubu for Direct Primaries

Hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe, Lagos State, on Friday staged a solidarity walk to express appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening internal democracy through the party’s direct primaries process and allowing members to freely choose their candidates.

The supporters marched to the APC Lagos State Secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, carrying placards with inscriptions such as “PBAT, Thank You for Direct Primary,” “No Shaking, Party Has Decided,” “Kosofe for PBAT,” “God Bless You,” “We Love the Direct Primary,” and “Kosofe Is Saying Thank You.”

The procession, tagged “Kosofe Walk for Asiwaju,” drew participants from different parts of the constituency, who described the direct primary system as a major step toward deepening democracy within the party.

Speaking during the walk, one of the leaders of the demonstration said APC members in Kosofe were pleased with the party’s leadership and remained firmly behind President Tinubu and all APC candidates.

According to him, the direct primaries process has returned power to grassroots party members, giving them the opportunity to determine who represents them at elections.

He said the enthusiasm displayed during the march reflected the confidence of APC members in the party and their readiness to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Today, June 12, 2026, APC members in Kosofe have come out en masse to appreciate our leader and President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for sustaining the values and virtues of democracy in Nigeria,” he said.

“Through the direct primaries process, party members were given the opportunity to freely choose their candidates. From Alapere to Acme, the message is clear: APC members in Kosofe are happy, united and fully committed to the ideals of participation, fairness and democracy.”

He added that after 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, Nigeria’s democracy has continued to mature, noting that the direct primary system represents one of the most significant milestones in strengthening internal party democracy.

Another participant commended the President for creating opportunities for young people to play active roles in leadership and governance.

A supporter who addressed the gathering in the Hausa language said members from across the three local councils in Kosofe participated in the solidarity walk to thank President Tinubu for allowing party members to elect candidates of their choice without intimidation or undue influence.

Also speaking, former ICT aide to Mayor Dele Oshinowo, Mr. Tosin Ogundipe, said the participants were demonstrating solidarity with the leadership of the APC and reaffirming their commitment to the party’s democratic processes.

Several other party supporters who joined the walk expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for what they described as a transparent primary election process that enabled members to determine the party’s candidates.

The event concluded at the APC state secretariat, with participants pledging to mobilise support for President Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
