The internal crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has taken a fresh turn as Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, the serving House of Representatives member for Kosofe Federal Constituency, publicly rejected a recent reconciliation resolution concerning the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The development comes nearly three months after the APC reportedly declared Mayor Dele Oshinowo as its candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency. While several aspirants and party stakeholders have since accepted the outcome, congratulated Oshinowo and pledged their support for his candidacy, Ogbara has maintained her opposition to the process.

In a statement titled “KOSOFE RECONCILIATION UPDATE OFFICIAL CLARIFICATION,” issued through her media handlers, the lawmaker disputed reports suggesting that she had conceded defeat or endorsed any reconciliation arrangement.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara has neither withdrawn nor conceded her position, nor has she endorsed any resolution purportedly arising from the said exercise,” the statement said.

The statement further cautioned against treating the reported reconciliation outcome as a reflection of Ogbara’s position, stressing that no such development should be regarded as an official party decision without a formal pronouncement.

“Accordingly, the circulated statement should not be construed as representing her position or, in the absence of an official pronouncement, as a formal decision of the Party.”

Ogbara’s position introduces another layer of uncertainty into the APC’s efforts to consolidate its structure in Kosofe ahead of the 2027 elections. With Oshinowo already positioned as the party’s reported flagbearer, the continued disagreement underscores the difficulty of achieving a complete reconciliation among competing interests within the constituency.

The latest development is also likely to increase pressure on the Lagos State APC leadership to find a lasting resolution that can prevent the internal disagreement from affecting the party’s preparations and campaign strategy ahead of the general elections.
