The Mayor Dele Oshinowo administration held a Stakeholder Consultative Forum for the year 2023 budget to ensure the populace is always involved in providing a people’s budget.
The engagement themed “Budget of Infrastructural growth and human development” witnessed the presence of traditional rulers, community leaders, transport unions,market men and women, youth and women’s organizations, artisan bodies, and religious leaders.
Welcoming guests to the program, the chairman explained that the engagement was held to give purposeful direction to the 2023 budget by allowing residents to contribute their inputs and submit their proposals.
Mayor Dele further explained that the administration is tilting its focus next year towards massive infrastructural development,adding that all projects carried out by his administration so far, most importantly the housing scheme, were embarked upon to create an alternative to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the LCDA.
While concluding that the stakeholders meeting will be extended to the seven wards of the locality with the coordination of the councillors, the chairman hinted that his administration will start construction works on Fadiya, Adisa Akintoye, Odogbolu, and Ogunseide Streets, all in the Ketu area of the LCDA.
The Chairman further added that the LCDA is in partnership with the Lagos State Government to construct two roads in the Owode-Ajegunle Area of the LCDA.
Also speaking, the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Femi Saheed, commended the council chairman for transforming the LCDA into a place of pride for massive development.
He added that the creation of LCDAs has demonstrated the uncommon capacity of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the grassroots are connected to the state grid of development.
On his part, the Alaketu of Ketu, HRM Oba Isiaka Oyero, urged residents of the LCDA to remain supportive of the current administration.
In his remarks, the State Treasurer, Lagos APC, Hon. Abiodun Akhigbe, appealed to the council chairman to incorporate the rehabilitation of Biola Street, Alapere, into his administration’s programs for the year 2023.
The State Treasurer further urged the present administration to look into the issue of unused lands in the Ajelogo/Akanimodo Housing Scheme, stressing that the serenity of the area will aid a beautiful aesthetic for the ongoing housing projects springing up in the area.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Head of Administration, Mrs. Sonate Adebanji, urged residents of the LCDA to pay their levies and rates in order to ensure there are adequate resources to fund the 2023 budget.
