The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency 2, Hon. Babajide Bakare, has empathized with the residents over the frustrations everyone is going through presently with the current controversial currency redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
He made his position known during the House to House campaign of the NNPP candidates to the Odogbolu, Mascara and Tipper community in Ketu on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
He made it clear that despite the long term benefits of the policy, the pains and frustrations residents of the constituency are going through on a daily basis is too much. In his words ‘the size of the informal sector of our economy is estimated to be about 60% and this constitutes mostly the artisans, traders, market men and women, transport workers and the labourers, and these are the group of people majorly bearing the brunt of the currency redesign policy’.
He therefore appealed to all residents of the Kosofe Constituency 2 to keep exercising great patience in the face of the frustration and not to take the laws into their hands as experienced in other parts of the country.
He further reiterated that since the elections is just a few days away, residents should massively troop out, and use the polls to send a clear message to the ruling government.
He also called on the heads of the diverse security agencies within the constituency to please provide vigilant watch over critical infrastructures and financial institutions in order to maintain peace and order across the length and breadth of Kosofe.
Signed:
Hon. Babajide Bakare
NNPP Candidate – Kosofe Constituency 2 – Lagos State House of Assembly
