In commemoration of Democracy Day, the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, took the opportunity to reflect on the significant accomplishments of his administration in advancing the progress of the council. The chairman emphasized the importance of democracy as the best form of government and pledged to continue working for the betterment of the community.

On this significant day, which marks an important milestone in the nation’s history, Oshinowo joined Nigerians at home and abroad in celebrating the commemoration of Democracy Day. He stressed that June 12 holds a special place in the hearts of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA residents, as it symbolizes integrity, fairness, justice, and equity, principles that have guided the council’s administrative affairs.

To enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the LCDA, Oshinowo revealed that the council had made significant investments in the development of a remarkable housing estate called Greenwich Garden through a Public-Private Partnership Arrangement. The chairman expressed his delight in the ongoing construction activities in the Ajelogo Area, emphasizing that it would create employment opportunities for hundreds of residents daily.

Addressing the issue of unemployment, Oshinowo highlighted the success of the council’s empowerment scheme known as “WE LIFT,” which aims to empower the unemployed and help them achieve financial independence. He announced that the first batch of beneficiaries would soon graduate, showcasing their accomplishments after undergoing rigorous training for a minimum of six months to a maximum of two years. This program reflects the administration’s commitment to making a difference and fostering self-reliance in the community.

Furthermore, the council has prioritized environmental concerns by ensuring the free flow of water during the monsoon seasons. Oshinowo mentioned the recent hiring of a swamp buggy that has been diligently clearing clogged and blocked canals in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA over the past two months, thereby minimizing the risk of flooding and related problems.

Recognizing the significance of technology in advancing society, Oshinowo highlighted the ongoing construction of an ICT hub in Mascara, Ketu. Once completed, this hub will accelerate the application of science and technology, delivering high-tech solutions that will boost the economic fortunes of the LCDA.

In the realm of healthcare, Oshinowo’s administration has prioritized the renovation and revitalization of primary health centers. The Ajegunle Primary Health Centre is currently undergoing renovation, with the aim of providing improved healthcare services to residents.

Concluding his remarks, Oshinowo reiterated his commitment to doing more for humanity, emphasizing that it is a reward to highlight democracy as the best form of government. With a strong focus on development, empowerment, environmental preservation, technology, and healthcare, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA is striving to create a brighter future for its residents.
