The Kosofe Local Government area of Lagos State has awarded a Certificate of Return to Oseni Sylvia Crescent and the Odunlami Community Development Association (OSO CDA). The certificate presentation, conducted with utmost harmony, took place under the vigilant supervision of Kosofe’s H.O.D of Agric, Rural & Social Development and the Acting Chairman of the Kosofe Community Development Committee (CDC), Segun Babatunde.
Speaking to our Correspondent shortly after the event, Mrs. Yetunde Adenle, a representative of the H.O.D, emphasized the vital role community leaders play in fostering unity. “Community work is not just about personal gain,” she noted. “It’s a collective responsibility for which leaders must keep their constituents informed and engaged.” Adenle urged the newly elected executives to be diligent in their attendance at local and state-level meetings, ensuring effective communication with both the government and the community.
Furthermore, Adenle called upon members of every Community Development Association (CDA) to contribute their developmental fees, emphasizing that the onus of community development isn’t solely on the government. She encouraged OSO CDA to take proactive steps through self-initiated projects, rather than waiting for external intervention.
Segun Babatunde, Acting Chairman of the CDC for Kosofe Local Government, commended OSO CDA’s longstanding contribution to the community’s progress. He underscored the importance of proactive engagement, urging the association to continue their efforts and maintain regular meetings. “Community development isn’t solely the government’s responsibility,” he asserted. “OSO CDA must take charge of their community’s destiny and collaborate closely with the CDC.”
