An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has ordered the remand of Oluwafemi Olumoro for allegedly defiling and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old minor, whose name has been withheld for privacy reasons.
Olumoro, whose residential address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge on defilement, sexual assault by penetration, and assault occasioning harm. Despite pleading not guilty to the counts during arraignment, Justice Abiola Soladoye ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until May 6 for the commencement of trial.
According to the State Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DDPP), Mr. Olusola Soneye, the defendant allegedly committed the offences in June 2018 at No. 7 Church St., Idera, Owode-Ajegunle in Kosofe, Lagos. Soneye further alleged that Olumoro defiled the survivor by engaging in unlawful carnal knowledge with her and sexually assaulted her by penetration with his manhood. Additionally, it was claimed that Olumoro beat the girl with a belt, causing injuries to her right eye.
The alleged offences violate Sections 13 of the relevant laws, and the case is set to proceed to trial as the court awaits further legal proceedings.
