The Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, paid a visit on Thursday to the SAIL Innovation Lab in Ikorodu, where he praised the founders’ commitment to youth development and their sacrifice for the community.
The SAIL Innovation Lab, an initiative of the SAIL Empowerment Foundation, was founded by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru. The lab, equipped with world-class facilities, offers free training in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and other tech skills to hundreds of participants from Lagos East Senatorial District and beyond. Graduates of the program have successfully secured jobs in cutting-edge fields like Data Science and AI.
During his visit, Dr. Maida addressed participants in Data Science and 3MTT Product Design classes, as well as those involved in the Awarri AI program. He urged the trainees to take full advantage of the opportunities provided, noting the importance of harnessing their potential in the digital and technological age.
“I am wowed! This is a huge sacrifice of time and resources for the people. I want to plead with the community to treasure this initiative and ensure its sustainability,” Dr. Maida remarked.
The lab has previously hosted visits from other notable figures, including Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, who also encouraged participants to reach for their full potential.
