The publisher of KosofePost, Bilesanmi Abayomi KOKO, has raised concerns over the February performance ranking of Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State, as released by Lagos Reporters.

In the ranking, Ikosi-Isheri placed 46th out of the 57 councils assessed across Lagos. Lagos Reporters stated that its evaluation criteria focused on key areas such as health, education, infrastructure, job creation, youth empowerment, and residents’ opinions.

KOKO, while acknowledging past issues with the council’s response to media engagements, maintained that Ikosi-Isheri’s current ranking does not reflect its progress. He highlighted the newly built Ikosi-Isheri Primary Health Centre in Kosofe as a major achievement, arguing that the council’s position in the ranking is unfair.

“Regardless of our reservations about the chairman, truth be told, Ikosi-Isheri is not doing badly at the moment. If for nothing else, the newly built Ikosi-Isheri Primary Health Centre is a great achievement,” KOKO said.

An aide to an executive chairman in Kosofe-LCDAs, who spoke under anonymity, echoed KOKO’s sentiments. “You are absolutely right. Maybe the council needs to improve its media visibility because even the First Lady of Lagos State recently inspected the laudable PHC,” the aide remarked.

Similarly, Folarin Ahmed Kolade, Financial Secretary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikosi-Isheri branch, lauded the council’s efforts in infrastructure and job creation.

“The Mayoress has really done well, with many roads set to be commissioned soon. The newly kitted Ikosi-Isheri Task Force and the world-class health centre—also set for commissioning—are clear indicators of her exceptional work. She deserves a top-five ranking,” Kolade stated.
