Babatunde Muyideen Durosimi (BMD), a seasoned public servant with over a decade of experience, has unveiled an ambitious sports development agenda for Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA). With a history of overseeing major sports infrastructures such as Onikan Stadium and Campos Stadium, BMD aims to leverage his expertise to revolutionize sports in the community.
Infrastructure Overhaul for Local Sports
As part of his agenda, BMD has committed to the rehabilitation and expansion of existing sports facilities in Agboyi-Ketu. The plan includes the construction of multi-purpose recreational centers and designated spaces for football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, and indigenous Nigerian sports. The initiative seeks to provide modern, safe, and accessible facilities for residents of all ages.
Youth Engagement Through Grassroots Sports
In a bid to harness the talents of young athletes, BMD has proposed grassroots sports competitions across all wards in Agboyi-Ketu. Additionally, he plans to establish sports academies and forge partnerships with international clubs to provide local talents with professional career opportunities in sports.
Health Promotion Through Sporting Activities
BMD’s strategy also emphasizes the role of sports in promoting health and well-being. He intends to introduce annual sports festivals and wellness programs aimed at encouraging community participation in physical activities.
