Ms. Oshoffa Olayemi, the Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayoress Semiat Bada, has formally declared her intention to contest for the councillorship seat in Ward C in the forthcoming local government elections.

Speaking on her ambition, Oshoffa, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), described herself as the most qualified and experienced candidate to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming primary election. She is a direct descendant of the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) and has served in various leadership roles both within the church and the party at the ward level.

Oshoffa revealed that her political journey dates back to 2017, when she served as a ward executive member and twice as an auditor. She also previously served as the Supervisor for Women Affairs under the late Alhaji Fatai Oresanya, former Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
“This is my fourth time contesting in the councillorship race,” she said. “I’ve been in this journey for over 16 years. I believe this is my time. I have the capacity, the experience, and a strong connection with the people of Ward C.”
Currently, she also holds leadership positions within the Celestial Church, serving as Chairperson of the CCC International Ketu and head of the Parochial Committee, which oversees the administrative arm of the church.
Oshoffa, who vowed to serve only one term if elected, said her priority would be on infrastructure development, women empowerment, and youth welfare in the ward. “Ward C is not a large ward, but it has great people. My goal is to deliver a single, impactful term that will uplift the community,” she added.
She appealed to APC leaders in the ward to support her bid, stating that no female aspirant has ever emerged as the party’s flag bearer in Ward C. “This is an opportunity to change that narrative and encourage more women to participate in grassroots politics. We must begin to walk the talk on the 35 percent women representation as recommended by the United Nations.”
Oshoffa also dismissed speculations that her ambition is being sponsored by Mayoress Semiat Bada, saying her aspiration predates their working relationship.
“I have known the Mayoress for 10 years and only began working directly with her seven years ago. My ambition is self-driven and long-standing,” she clarified.
She called on party leaders and stakeholders to rally behind her candidacy, expressing confidence that with their support, she will emerge victorious and deliver purposeful leadership to the people of Ward C.
