Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has rolled out a series of impactful initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of his constituents, particularly during the 2025 Ileya festivities.

In a major intervention addressing food insecurity, over 12,000 households across Ikorodu, Epe, Kosofe, Somolu, and Ibeju-Lekki benefitted from the Ileya 2025 food pack distribution programme, spearheaded by the senator. The gesture is seen as a response to the rising cost of living and is intended to provide relief to vulnerable families during the festive period.

Infrastructure and Service Delivery

Senator Abiru has also prioritized infrastructure development within the district. Key road projects in the Ikorodu division—including Mobile Road, Otediran Street, and Majidun axis—have either been completed or are currently underway. These upgrades are aimed at easing mobility and improving economic activity in the region.

In the area of power restoration, Senator Abiru facilitated the return of electricity supply to several communities including TOS Benson Estate, Epe, Ikosi, and Gbagada. On healthcare, he has supported facilities such as the Ikorodu General Hospital, where a new ambulance was recently delivered to boost emergency response services.

Youth Empowerment through Technology

Through the Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL), the senator has been advancing digital literacy and youth empowerment. So far, more than 2,000 young people have received free training in tech-related fields, including basic computer skills and software development, positioning them for future employment in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

A Call for Unity and Support

At a community event attended by notable personalities, including former Lagos Deputy Governor Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and youth leader Dr. Seriki, Senator Abiru expressed appreciation for the continued support of stakeholders and community leaders. He reaffirmed his commitment to responsive governance and urged citizens to remain united and resilient in the face of economic challenges.

The initiatives have drawn wide commendation from beneficiaries and local leaders, who praised Senator Abiru for “leading with action” and staying close to the grassroots.
