Poole Police Stop Driver for Wrapping Car in Christmas Lights Ahead of Festive Season

Police in Poole stopped a motorist late last night after spotting a vehicle completely wrapped in colourful Christmas lights, weeks before the holiday season officially begins. Officers said the driver was pulled over and given “words of advice” over multiple traffic offences linked to the eye-catching decoration, reminding him that early Christmas cheer does not override road safety rules.

UK Road Traffic Regulations prohibit displaying a red light at the front of a vehicle or using unapproved colours at the rear, offences that can attract fines. Police noted that altering a vehicle’s lighting in ways that may distract other motorists is a serious issue, regardless of the festive appeal.

The car, described jokingly as “sleigh-inspired,” may have amused onlookers, but officers cautioned that such creative modifications could put a driver firmly on the legal “naughty list.” Although no fines were issued, the motorist was warned to comply with regulations going forward.

Images of the illuminated vehicle have since gone viral on social media, drawing a mix of amusement and concern from the public.
