Citizens Compass Wins ‘Online of the Year’ at 19th Nigeria Media Nite Out Awards

Citizens Compass, a prominent human-interest news platform, has won the Online of the Year award at the 19th Nigeria Media Nite Out Awards (NMNA), held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

The digital platform emerged winner ahead of three other nominees, earning recognition for its consistent reporting and impact-driven coverage of community and human-interest issues since its establishment in April 2021.

NMNA Convener and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Shola Olugbemiro, had on November 4 announced the commencement of voting across all categories. Citizens Compass actively mobilised its audience and supporters throughout the voting period.

Founder and Editor, Bose Adelaja, a veteran journalist who began her career at the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) before becoming ai pioneer Metro reporter at Vanguard, expressed delight at the honour, describing the recognition as a reward for dedication and resilience in journalism.

“This award recognises hard work in the field of journalism. Special appreciation to the organisers for nominating and honouring Citizens Compass, and to our esteemed readers, family, colleagues, friends and well-wishers for the massive votes. Above all, we thank Almighty God for making this happen,” she said.

Adelaja dedicated the award to readers in Nigeria and beyond.

The Nigeria Media Nite Out Awards is an annual ceremony that honours excellence and contributions to journalism and national development under the leadership of its Chief Executive, Mr. Olugbemiro.
