Fuji legend and cultural icon, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has formally declared his intention to contest for the vacant royal stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
In a letter dated December 3, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Agunsebi Quarters, Ijebu-Ode, K1 announced his desire to be considered for the prestigious throne, stating that he is fully eligible under Ijebu customary law and the Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws.
K1 noted that he was born on March 3, 1957, and is a bona fide son of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, tracing his lineage to Oba Jadiara — a heritage he says qualifies him to vie for the revered title in accordance with established tradition.
Highlighting his lifetime contributions to culture, the Fuji maestro pointed to his five-decade career promoting Ijebu, Yoruba, and Nigerian identity through music and cultural enterprise. His service has earned him numerous honours, including:
Mayegun of Yorubaland (2020)
Member of the Order of the Niger – MON (2022)
Olori Omo-Oba and Otunba Afidipotemole of Akile Ijebu (2023) — conferred by the late Awujale.
K1’s formal declaration is a major development in the succession process for the Awujale stool, one of the most prestigious traditional titles in Yorubaland. His entry into the race is expected to generate widespread public interest as the selection proceedings advance.
