Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State have lauded Senator Adetokunbo Abiru for distributing a wide range of working tools and food packs worth millions of naira to constituents in the Lagos East Senatorial District.
KosofePost reports that the empowerment items—distributed under Abiru’s #DoingGood initiative—include industrial and manual sewing machines, pepper grinding machines, generators, deep freezers, ovens, standing dryers, bags of rice, and other support materials targeted at improving livelihoods across the district.
Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who attended the event, expressed delight at the senator’s efforts, noting that the intervention reflects the promises made under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
“I am happy to be chairman of a party that is putting smiles on the faces of the people, especially at this festive time,” Ojelabi said.
“Look at the quality of empowerment Senator Abiru is doing—industrial sewing machines, dryers, generators. I’m overwhelmed, and I’m happy this is happening at our own time, as we consolidate our control of Lagos State.”
Ojelabi urged beneficiaries to protect and maximise the tools given to them. He said the best way to appreciate the senator’s gesture is to obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“It is the progressives that have the ideas to turn the economy around. Abiru has done his part—your part is to reciprocate by protecting the tools and standing by the party,” he added.
Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Mr. Olalekan Ahmed, also praised the senator for giving back to the community. He said the distribution was a direct investment in job creation and economic stability for traders, artisans, farmers, and residents across the district.
“Government at all levels must create opportunities, and this is exactly what Senator Abiru is doing,” Ahmed said. “These tools will multiply opportunities for our people.”
The Ayangunre of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi (Adegorushe V), commended Abiru for aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. He said he was not surprised by the senator’s efforts, given his consistent commitment to grassroots development.
“He has brought this to the grassroots—they are the ones who own the politics,” the monarch said. “And the community must reciprocate by ensuring they have their PVCs. That is the only weapon to vote in leaders of their choice.”
He noted that Ikorodu and surrounding communities have always supported the progressives and will continue to do so.
Earlier, Senator Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to serving Lagos East with diligence, integrity, and empathy. He encouraged residents to remain united and hopeful under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We will continue to build a Lagos that is inclusive and a Nigeria that offers opportunities for all,” Abiru said, assuring constituents that his empowerment programmes would remain consistent and impactful.
The event adds to the senator’s growing list of interventions aimed at improving welfare, supporting small businesses, and promoting sustainable livelihoods across Lagos East.
