A co-owner and beneficiary of a disputed property at No. 21, Olorunlogbon Street, Anthony Village, Lagos State, Ibrahim Adedayo Ogunbadejo, has raised concerns over alleged harassment, obstruction and threats to his life and family amid an ongoing legal dispute over the property.
Ogunbadejo, in complaints and petitions submitted to relevant authorities, said the property is currently the subject of litigation before the Ikeja Judicial Division of the High Court of Lagos State.
The dispute reportedly arose from an alleged sale of the property by some members of the family. Ogunbadejo maintains that the transaction was carried out without his knowledge, consent or legal authorisation.
He further alleged that despite the matter being before the court, the purported buyer, allegedly acting with local agents and the community’s traditional leader, the Baale, had resorted to what he described as self-help measures in an attempt to take possession of the property and intimidate members of his household.
One of the major concerns raised in his petition was an alleged obstruction of access to the residence.
According to Ogunbadejo, a 30-ton tipper load of sharp sand, alongside several construction planks, was deliberately deposited at the main entrance and around the building, restricting residents’ movement into and out of the property.
He also alleged that an operative of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) had been deployed inside the residential compound without the family’s consent or lawful authority.
Ogunbadejo claimed that the operative had allegedly intimidated members of the family and made suspicious late-night movements around the building while residents were asleep, which he said had heightened fears for their safety.
The complainant is calling for the immediate removal of the materials allegedly blocking access to the property and the removal of the person he describes as an unauthorised occupant.
He has also appealed to law enforcement authorities to intervene and provide protection for members of his family, citing concerns over their safety.
Ogunbadejo further urged all parties involved in the dispute to respect the authority of the Lagos State High Court and refrain from taking actions that could alter the status quo while the litigation remains pending.
The allegations contained in the complaints are subject to determination by the appropriate authorities and the court.
