• Says initiative is to provide financial oxygen for struggling traders
• Empowers 40 selected traders with 50,000 each
It was a moment of joy, jubilation and fun as the Executive Chairman, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Oshinowo flagged off the ‘TRADER SUPPORT SCHEME’ at Oja-Oba Market, moving from one stall to another to empower selected struggling traders with 50,000 naira each.
The scheme is aimed at providing financial oxygen in sustaining businesses of struggling traders.
Speaking at the program, the chairman explained that the intervention is geared towards reducing poverty level and hardship among the less-privileged.
Mayor Dele further noted that the empowerment program would be a continuous exercise, adding that the empowerment train would visit all commercial arenas in the LCDA.
Also speaking, the Head of Administration, Agboyi-Ketu, Mrs. Sonate Adebanji appealed to the recipients to make good use of the money, stressing that the distributed funds are tax payers’ money.
She further reminded that the money shouldn’t be expended on social activities, but to expand their businesses and become successful.
At the behest of the recipients, a septuagenarian, Mrs.Iyabo Ayoka noted that the support would go a long way in awakening their businesses, noting that finance had been an obstacle hindering the growth of most of the traders.
She further expressed the gratitude of the recipients to the LCDA, promising that the resources would be used for its intended purpose.
