Ikosi Isheri APC Says No Chairmanship candidate adopted

Awaits Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu Thursday Directives

Ikosi Isheri area Kosofe Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has declared that no Chairmanship candidate was adopted nor consensus reached for the council seat as they awaits directives from Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The declaration was made at the party monthly general Assembly meeting held at the APC’s Secretariat, Ikosi Ketu, Lagos on Sunday, May 22, 2021.

The APC Acting LGA Chairman, Honourable Seyi Odufowokan said in his opening remarks that the meeting was called to members political development as a result of different informations making round the town over the rumoured adoption of a candidate for Ikosi Isheri Chairmanship seat ahead of the primary election coming up on May 29, 2021.

Odufowokan declared to the large gathering that no candidate has been adopted nor consensus reached as at the time of the general Assembly. He added, “No information of such commissionated to the party, disregard any information that does not emanates from the party Secretariat”.

He further announced that stakeholders meeting will hold on Thursday, May 27, where APC National leader, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be addressing the party members and implored members to attend and hear from the horses mouth.

He also, implored the party members to come along with their membership slip on May 29 and facemasks to the primary Election centres.

Meanwhile, Alhaji A. Bankole Akile congratulated party members for turning out in their large numbers.

He added politics is all about conflicts and resolution. He urged members to embrace peace, love and shun violence.

In his own remarks, Engr. Erikitola said, “Let’s look at what we want to do. we are all members of the same party and God will choose a good leader and Chairman for us. Let’s be united and after the election we shall still be friends.”

Several Chairmanship aspirants also graced the general Assembly and equally spoke on the political developments as the Lagos poll draws near.

A female aspirant, Mrs. Abiodun Martins while speaking said party membership slip is a big tool and very important.

She adds “Don’t allow anybody to use money to get your party membership slip, Keep it safe and come out enmase to vote for your choice of candidates without fear or intimidation”.

Similarly, the Secretary to the Local Government of Ikosi Isheri and Chairmanship aspirant, Engr. Kazeem Dolapo Bashru declared that,” We don’t have any other party than this party. Hence, a committed and Loyal party member will honour party meeting invitation when invited.”

He further assured the gathering that primary for the forthcoming Local Government Election will come up this Saturday. He charged them not to entertain any fear from any quarters and get prepared to vote for candidate of their choice among the Contestants.

He explained that nine constestants picked nomination forms, while one reportedly withdraw from the race.

Consequently, eight (8) aspirants are still in race and assured that a level Playing field will be provided to all the Contestants.

Another Chairmanship aspirant, Honorable Abideen Fasasi in his own contribution noted that it’s where party is going they will follow suite. He said,” Our party said we go to the field and elect our candidate among us”.

He implored APC members to come with their party membership and exercise their right freely.

The frontline contestant, two term; ward and LGA Chairman of Ikosi Isheri APC, Honourable Loogun Sunday Oyekunle Jegede thanked the party members for their overwhelming supports.

In his remarks he said one of his reasons for vying for Chairmanship position was borne out of the desire to return the party to all stakeholders without discrimination and endear it to the masses.

Loogun who granted special interview on his plans for the good people of Ikosi Isheri also spoke on the controversial adoption of candidate for the Chairmanship seat.

In his words, “When I wanted to purchase my nomination form, I read party guidelines very well and consulted legal consultant on the grey areas and nowhere it was stated that consensus candidate will be picked online”.

He also assured the large gathering that free, fair and transparent election will be conducted across the seven Wards that make up Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area on Saturday.

The meeting was graced by Chairmanship and Councilorship Aspirants, Member of Ikosi Isheri Lcda Kitchen cabinet and legislative arm. The seven Ward Chairmen, women and youth leader representatives, party leaders, Former Councilors, and supervisory councilors and several members without violence or gunshots.
