June12: Police arrest protesters in Kosofe

In commemoration of Democracy day Nigerians who came out in their hundreds to protest peacefully has being arrested by the men of Nigeria Police.

Several protesters were attacked, and arrested at Ojota under Area’ H’ Command Ogudu Area of Kosofe Local Government on Saturday morning.

Nigerians who came to protest against increase in the incidents, and severity of violent outbreaks, kidnapping, banditry, and murder in broad daylight among others were round up.

Earlier, yesterday a group under the umbrella of team Lagos had earlier cautioned against any mass action that could disturb public peace and safety which is destructive to the socioeconomic development of the State.

Part of the statement read: “The people of Lagos state suffered a huge loss during the protests against police brutality tagged #Endsars. We can not fold our hands and allow any form of protest in the state that could be hijacked by unguided and scrupulous miscreants especially when the country is facing security challenges. We will not allow any form of hardship on the good people of Lagos state”.

Similarly, the Police Command in Lagos State said yesterday that it was not aware of any planned protests by any group/groups on June 12 Democracy Day, and assured residents of safety during the June 12 celebrations.
