The people’s Democratic Party Councilorship Candidate for Shaginsha-Magodo ‘Ward B’ Area of Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area, Hon. Odunaya Okadayo Florence in an exclusive Interview with The Kosofe Post shared her experience during the July 2021 Local Government Election among sundry issues.

Kosofe Post: What’s your experience like during the last Local Government Election?
Focus: The experience that I have was that the voter’s are not much happy to come out and voting is only APC members that came out to vote and their leaders .
KP: Would you give it a trial again?
Focus: Yes, if PDP has taken over Lagos State.
KP: The winner of Shaginsha-Magodo ‘Ward B’, Councilor seat, Ganiu Oni was a former Ward Chairman of PDP. Don’t you think that played a significant role in his Victory?
FOCUS: Yes I know, it’s because we don’t have a good leader in Lagos state PDP .
KP: But you have Chief Bode George, Jimi Agbaje, Aduke Maina,Deputy State Chairman, Welly Hassan and several others?
Focus: Yes we have them, but during the campaign or election day we don’t use to see them , they believe Apc owns Lagos State. And which we need to change their thinking and orientation of this.
Some of the leader would even tell you that you shouldn’t stress your self on the LG election that it’s TINUBU that owns Lagos. Should a leader say such thing? That’s why I said most of our PDP that called themselves a leader are very weak.
In IKOSI /ISHERI LCDA we the candidate did not see any support of a leader at all except Honourable (Prince) Ademola Alebiosu who contested Kosofe Constituency 2 Lagos state House of Assembly Bye Election in 2020.kudos to him.
We need such a leader that you mentioned above to support us during campaign and on election day. APC leaders use to support their candidates during campaigns and on election day. That’s why they continue to win in Lagos state.
KP: Several women in politics across the two major parties complained about marginalization over the years. However, we observed during the LG poll women are voting against their fellow woman. What do you make on this trend?
Focus: Those women that are voting against theirselves know what they are doing, most of them are widows, single mother, indigent people e.t.c.So during the campaigns or election is political party that gave them money that they would follow because those people are suffering and they don’t think about their children future, they are only concerned with what they will eat at the moment, and we can’t blame them, it’s because of the bad governance.
KP: In future Elections, who do you prefer between Independent Electoral Commission(INEC) and Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to be conducting Local Government poll.
Focus: I prefer INEC to conduct the next LG election because those people that called themselves LASIEC are APC member and they are all thieves.
KP: Why do you call them thief?
Focus: APC are big “THIEF” their administration is not favourable to Nigerians, there’s no Job, no good Infrastructure , insecurity, kidnapping everywhere, and there’s no solution to this .But during the campaign and election day you would see them flaunting money up and down to make them win that sit .
KP: As an opposition female Politician what would you do to ensure that the Incumbent Chairman, Samiat Bada deliver on her promises to the Electorates?
Focus: Well, what I will advice the IKOSI ISHERI chairman is that she should make a provision and support the widower’s, old people and indigent children to make her administration unforgettable in IKOSI ISHERI LCDA.
KP: Tell us about yourself and why you are being called Focus
My name’s are HON.ODUNAYA OLADAYO FLORENCE. A graduate of Tai solanrin university of Education. Born in ogun state and brought up in Lagos State.
Actually, I am not the one that called myself FOCUS is people that gave me that name, because whatever I want to do I use to do it with great mind and wisdom. I don’t listen to wrong advice.
