Kosofe Council Boss Flags Off Y2021 Sensitization And Mobilization Campaign On Mass Literacy In Kosofe

In a bid to enhance and encourage Adult literacy in all nooks and crannies of the state, Kosofe local government under the leadership of Barrister (Hon) Moyosore Ogunlewe has partnered with Agency for Mass Education to sensitize and mobilize campaign on Mass literacy in Kosofe Local Government Area.

The event, which was initiated by the Office of the Special Adviser on Education was aimed at ensuring every resident of Lagos goes through a learning process that would improve their reading and writing skills.

In his opening remarks, the Executive Chairman, Moyosore Ogunlewe highlighted the council’s achievements in the last 60 days, pointing out that education is the best legacy and a sure way to excel.

He appealed to every adult to embrace the initiative, noting that mass education has come to stay.

The Director/Head, Agency for Mass Education, Mrs. Oluwakemi Kalesanwo in her welcome speech, thanked everyone who had been a part of the Mass Literacy program and specially appreciated the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for ensuring that Lagos is indeed learning.

She took everyone down memory lane on how the program started, stressing the importance of education to the growth and development of a Nation.

The Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab who was ably represented by the Permanent Secretary, office of the SA on Education, Mr. Waheed Kasali commended the council chairman for improving the education sector barely sixty days in office, adding that the Mass literacy program is targeted at individuals who find it difficult to read and write.

He noted that the Lagos state government is passionate about reducing poverty through mass literacy, an initiative aimed at eradicating ignorance and illiteracy among residents.

Present at the Epoch making event were the Council Vice Chairman, Prince Babatunde Saliu, Councillor representing Ward F, Hon. Baruwa, Head of Administration, Mr. MBS Arole; Director Mass literacy; Mrs. Ibukun Seriki, Director Vocational Education, Mr.Dele Obaba; Director Continuing Education, Mrs. Kemi Agaga Williams; HOD Education, Mrs. O.O. Whenu; All members of Lagos State Agency for Mass, Management, Education, religious leaders, Royal Fathers, Market women & men and CDC/CDA.

The event came to a close with the unveiling of the register books by the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe while he was later joined by the Vice Chairman, Prince Babatunde Saliu; Councillor Ward F, Hon. Ibrahim Baruwa; Permanent Secretary, Office of the special Adviser on Education, Mr. Waheeb Kasali to register some of the students on the Attendance Register.

The program further reinstates the Lagos state government’s drive towards building a smart economy for all Lagosians.
