Kosofe Local Government Chairman Empowers Indigent Students with 325 Free GCE Forms

In a remarkable demonstration of commitment to education and youth empowerment, Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, has distributed 325 free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to indigent students within the council.

The heartwarming announcement came during the 3rd Edition of the free GCE distribution for indigent students in Lagos. Barr. Ogunlewe highlighted that this initiative underscores the administration’s dedication to providing the best opportunities for the academic growth of pupils and students in Kosofe.

Speaking passionately about the importance of education, Chairman Ogunlewe affirmed that this educational support program aligns perfectly with the state government’s THEME agenda. This initiative aims to provide educational opportunities for the youth, regardless of their socioeconomic status or political affiliation.

He expressed, “Today’s memorable event, the distribution of free 325 General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to our selected candidates, marks the third milestone in this legacy. We are resolute in our commitment to redefine education within our local government.”

To further enhance the learning environment, Chairman Ogunlewe announced ongoing projects to elevate public primary schools in Kosofe. These projects include the completion of the Mosafejo Primary School construction and the provision of an Electronic Library (E-library) to Emmanuel Primary School in Ogudu. Moreover, all public primary schools in Kosofe will be equipped with state-of-the-art Information Communication Technology (ICT) gadgets, ensuring computer literacy from a young age.

The administration will also distribute “welcome back to school” packs comprising school bags, exercise books, uniforms, and more to students. Additionally, there will be general school rehabilitation efforts and the introduction of scholarships and bursary awards.

Highlighting the partnership with SohCahToa organization in the distribution of GCE forms, Chairman Ogunlewe recalled that 150 forms were donated last year. He acknowledged the economic hardships faced by communities due to the fuel subsidy removal and emphasized the importance of unity during challenging times.

Education, he asserted, is a vital measure of success, and it is the responsibility of those in public office to provide opportunities for talented youths, particularly those in need of support.

Chairman Ogunlewe’s administration has made a significant impact in the education sector, distributing 150 GCE e-pins and completing registrations in 2021, followed by 300 in 2022. They also provided 1000 JAMB/UTME e-pins and registration in the 1st Edition of 2022. In addition to these efforts, free tutorial classes, adult literacy materials, and deworming exercises for public primary school pupils have been initiated.

Chairman Ogunlewe states that the ongoing tutorial classes would prepare students effectively for the upcoming GCE exams. The successful students will be the third set of beneficiaries for this year’s UTME, reflecting the administration’s unwavering commitment to education and the bright future of Kosofe’s youth.
