The lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1, Hon Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon has conducted scholarship oral interviews for students in tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education) across the country whose applications have been screened and selected.
The lawmaker constitute Scholarship Scheme Advisory Committee, in regards to reduce parent’s financial burden and to help indigent student’s of Kosofe Constituency 1 navigate the hardship of humble backgrounds while trying to secure a better future for themselves through access to quality education.
The Committee Chairman, Mr. Gray Alli-Balogun said the scheme is not political and it’s emanated out of generosity of Hon Okanlawon to affect the community.
Speaking further, he narrated the laid out criteria to appraise each students notably: CGPA Grade, Jurisdiction of the residence of applicants, Indigency, Orphanhood factor and complete documentation of applicants credentials.
One of the applicants for the interview who currently is a student of University of Lagos, Akoka with CGPA of 4.83 and living in Ojota, Miss Adetola Azeezat Adeola commended Hon Sanni Okanlawon for this laudable scheme. She noted that the selection process was very neutral, unbiased and that you do not need to know anybody to be selected.
Adetola said she will be immensely grateful to Hon Okanlawon because it takes an impactful person like him to sit down and think of helping Students who have challenges in paying their school fees, promised to maintain her current CPGA grade and will not let him down.
Umezijiaku Williams Onyeka, a student of Federal College of education Technical Akoka, residing in Oworonshoki thanked and appreciated Hon Sanni Okanlawon for bringing up this scheme to support education of the students.
He stated that during the 2019 House of Assembly campaign, Hon Okanlawon was in Oworonshoki and promised to support students in paying their school fees if elected and that now he has fulfilled his promise.
The Awards of Scholarship to qualified students selected during the interview will come up on the 30th October 2021.
