A social commentator, Mr. Ganiu Oyebanjo told this medium that advocates of child abuse are culpable.
Oyebanjo’s disclosed this to Kosofe Post during a chat conversation over the increasing menace of child abuse in various homes.
His views were completely different from the popular narratives of defilement campaigns commonly among the Child Advocates by dwelling on minors working as domestic staff without provision of Education and Vocational skills’ acquisition training among others.
In his words,” We all shout and clamour “Say no to Child Abuse”!
“Interestingly, we all have Omo Odo (house boys and girls), without visible or planned future.
“Child Abuse, It’s not just about defiling a minor or whatever. Anything that makes a child unable to compete favourably with children of his/her, age, is child abuse.
“Go to houses of all these campaigners and advocates of child abuse, you are sure to meet two or three minors working as domestic staff with them.”
“Come to Anthony and see several children, not going to school. They are either tending to the child(ren) of their paid masters, or running errands for them in their shops.”
“There has to be a holistic approach to it. Where everyone is concerned and involved,” Oyebanjo declared.
