“Today we call our Academy LGNA.
This is because of the expansion of our activities, which has now been extended to MDAs (state and National).”
“LGNA was established in 2009 with a clear-cut objective- to promote good governance and excellence in public administration.”
He announced Friday, December 17 as official day to celebrate LGNA 12th year anniversary.
Speaking further he said for 12 years LGNA have hosted over sixty lectures, seminars and capacity building sessions among others.
“Two thousand and ten participants from public and private institutions have attended the LGNA platforms, Jakande noted
“Awards of excellence have been presented to various public officers who have distinguished themselves in their official obligations.”
“More than a hundred technocrats, academicians, public office holders have delivered papers on the LGNA platforms. LGNA has gradually grown into a state and national brand.”
“Two weeks ago, LGNA hosted 32 council managers at a two-day seminar at the sheraton hotels. It was elaborate.”
“We had the presence of the HoS, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Commissioner for local Government and Community Development, Dr Wale Ahmed.”
“The Chairman of the LGSC Hon. Kamal Bayewu, the PS estab then Mr Abiodun Bamgboye, Professor Pat utomi and others.
“Because of the success of the event, a couple of my friends that are council treasurers asked if I could do the same for CTs.
“The challenge was, can LGNA organize a successful Two-Day training for CTs in 13 days? That off course was a tough call.
“We went round to talk to some CTs, I was familiar with. The first question was do you have a letter from the commission.
“Many accepted to attend after explanations and probably because of the success recorded with the CMs.
“We asked them to give names of at least two people they respected and who may interest a majority of the body of CTs. The names of Rev.McEwen Lamai and Olu Badejo came up multiple times.
Thank God, I have known and worked with Rev. Lamai before his retirement. I called him and we set up a meeting.
He publicly thanked distinguished Rev. Lamai, who was given a resounding standing ovation.
for his personal interest, commitment and influence for making the seminar a huge success.
“This is a clear testimony why as public officers and individuals, we should build a positive legacy and good name.”
He also extended his appreciation to the body of Council Treasurers, Dr Adegoke, and his good brothers in oshodi-ısolo and Odi olowo councils.
He added, “For us at LGNA, we believe what this country needs above any other thing is to have competent and proficient people in positions.
“This has been our mission this past decade. I thank all the CTs that made it here, many of whom paid from their private pocket?”
“Ask yourselves why you did that? Why you paid? The answer is obvious, self improvement is the most recognizable indication of a man destined for greatness.
“I thank everyone here present including and especially our distinguished facilitators, LGNA Managing Tunde Jakande noted.
