Mrs. Sherifat Hassan, the two-time People’s Democratic Party candidate for Lagos’ Kosofe Federal Constituency, has expressed interest in running for a third term according to our reliable source.

She was roundly defeated by incumbent legislator, Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye, in the last two elections she ran on the PDP ticket.

Unlike in 2015, when she filed a complaint with the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal about suspected election irregularities. She did not, however, file a petition in 2019.

Sherifat was lucky to be fielded unopposed in 2015 and 2019 after the party fielded Kafilat Ogbara in 2007 and Tai Obembe in 2011 in a hotly contested election. Other qualified, capable, and well-prepared candidates are expected to enter the campaign, so she may not earn her third term ticket on the platter of gold.

The immediate past People Democratic Party Kosofe LGA Chairman, Kunle Koya, and Dele Segun Aroyewun, former campaign manager for Sherifat Hassan, are among the inner caucus of the former Deputy State Chairman of the PDP, Welly Hassan’s spouse, Sherifat Hassan, who has joined the race.

According to the findings of the Kosofe Post, the aspirant has personally visited the PDP’s South West General Secretary, Honourable Rahman Owonikoran, Kosofe Apex Leader, Barrister Onikepo Oshodi, Alhaji Ishola Hassan, and other notable PDP leaders in the last few weeks to inform them of their ambition.

According to sources familiar with the party’s developments, the duo of Aroyewun and Koya are Hassan’s back-up plans should his wife Sherifat, who is expected to win the ticket for a third term, face opposition from the party’s leaders and members.
