IKosi Isheri Local Council Development Area celebrated World Children’s Day on Friday.

Many students across IKosi Isheri who attended the programmes marked the day with special outings and march pasts, among other activities.

The council Chairman, Mayoress Samiat Bada, was ably re-presented by the leader of the council, Honourable Yunusa Salami.

She said, “Children are the hopes of every household, community, and nation. They are God’s special gifts to every family, full of purity and innocence.”

She continues, “As a responsible government, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada’s led administration does not take children’s matters with levity. Their social and educational development is of the utmost concern to us.

“Our interventions and programs, such as: distribution of writing materials, school bags, furniture, and sanitation apparatuses to the 12 public primary schools in the LCDA; establishment of pipe-born water in schools; yearly Christmas Funfair (in partnership with TVC); and the recent one-day Executive Chairman celebration of Master Khalid, are testaments to how we hold Ikosi-isheri children so dear to our hearts.

“As a mother and the head of a responsible government, seeing our children happy is a thing of great joy. To this end, the local government is hosting all pupils at Ikosi Primary School today for them to have a memorable children’s day celebration,” she said.

Speaking to the newsmen at the IKosi Isheri Council, Head of Education, Oladapo Oshadipe, said they are happy to celebrate with the children.

He described Council Chairperson, Mayoress Samiat Bada, as an indefatigable woman with excellent character who loves children.

He admonished the children to shun social vices and to study hard to become great, like Mayoress.

While Oshadipe implored the parents and guardians not to indulge the children in social vices, he charged them to stand forth and make their children the best of the best.

Members of the Executive Arm, the Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors, the Council Leader and other members of the legislative arm, and primary and secondary school students were in attendance.
