Council chairman distributes Sallah Ram in Lagos

To alleviate the impact of the high cost of Ram for the Muslim faithful’s Eid El Kabir celebration on Saturday, July 9, Kosofe Local Government of Lagos has begun distribution of Sallah Ram worth several million.
 
Some of the beneficiaries disclosed that the chairman personally called them up to pick up the Ram over the weekend.

Political leaders, youth groups, community leaders, traditional leaders, among others, benefited from the gesture.

This annual practice is across 20 local government and 37 local council development areas.
 
Earlier, a resident of Kosofe based in the diaspora, Comrade Opomulero Olayiwola Sulyman, has called out council chairmen for neglecting their duties with the provision of roads, water, healthcare, education, and security, respectively, by using their various council funds meant for general good to buy Sallah RAM as a means of welfare for only All Progressives Congress members.

He said, “They will start using LCDA & LG money to buy ILEYA RAM for party members now in the name of welfare, as if that is their responsibility, or is that the road, water, healthcare, education, etc. that they were elected to oversee.”
