2022 International Youth Day: Senator Tokunbo Abiru Charges Youth To Take Charge

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Industries and the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA has joined youth in Lagos East and Nigeria at large in commemorating 2022 International Youth Day.

In a goodwill message to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day with the theme, “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages”‘, Abiru advocated for more involvement of young people in the quest for a better Nigeria.

He urged youth to be at the forefront of the creativity and digital innovation that is currently shaping the world adding that the Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL), a first of its kind Innovation Hub in Lagos East he established is geared to give expressions to dreams and aspirations of young people and to connect them with global opportunities that digital revolution provides.

“As leaders, we understand the need to provide the shoulders for young people like you to stand on. The minimum duty we owe you is to create an enabling environment and opportunities for you to thrive in this digital revolution age. This, we are taking seriously as the trustees of your mandate”,

“I have demonstrated commitments to the capacity development of young folks like you by establishing Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL), an Innovation Hub that was created in partnership with a renowned tech firm, Co-creation Hub (Cc-Hub). Participants who had successfully completed training in the 5 pilot programmes attested that their lives have been tremendously impacted and the worldview altered positively.

“Also, 600 students in various Higher Institutions of learning in the Senatorial District benefited from the Bursary Scheme I initiated last year. The same gesture will be repeated this year.

“I urge our youths to discharge their civic duties by getting involved in the political process and vote during the 2023 general elections. You cannot afford to be indifferent about those who will determine your future”, Abiru said.
