The Labour Party Governorship Candidate for the Lagos State 2023 general election, Prof. Ifagbemi Awamaridi, has approached the Federal High Court to restrain the Labour Party and Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing any other person.
This was contained in a signed statement by Labour Party, Lagos State, Publicity Secretary, Dr. O. Akinloye on Thursday.
The statement read in part:”
The Labour Party Governorship Candidate for Lagos State Prince [Prof.] Ifagbemi Awamaridi, has approached the Federal High Court (Premised on various reasons and facts) to restrain Labour Party and INEC from recognizing any other person (Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour) apart from himself as the Labour Party GOVERNORSHIP Candidate for Lagos State.
The implication of this is that the status quo remains; Prince [Prof.] Ifagbemi Awamaridi, remains the Labour Party GOVERNORSHIP Candidate for Lagos State, as Published by INEC.”
It would be recalled that Kosofe Post reported that the Labour party conducted substitution primary where Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour purportedly emerged as the Lagos State gubernatorial candidate of the party.
